Prosecutor investigating TV studio takeover shot dead in Ecuador

Prosecutor César Suárez, who was investigating the seizure of a TV studio during the riots in Ecuador, was shot dead by unknown persons, the country’s Attorney General Diana Salazar said. The appeal was published on the page of the Attorney General’s Office of Ecuador in the social network X.

Salazar said that Suarez was shot dead by unknown persons in his car in the evening of 17 January. The prosecutor was part of the National Unit for the Investigation of Transnational Organised Crime. He was investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack on the TC Televisión television studio on 9 January.
