Gary Oldman finds the role of Sirius Black mediocre

Gary Oldman, who breathed life into the rebellious wizard Sirius Black in the Harry Potter film series, has said he thinks his work is mediocre. Discussing his past work on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Oscar winner explained that he might have played Sirius Black differently or better if he had known about further events in J.K. Rowling’s books. “Had I read the books in advance, like Alan, and known what lay ahead for my character, I frankly believe I would have played him differently,” the actor said in particular, comparing himself to his colleague Alan Rickman, who played Professor Snape and was aware of the future plot.

However, Sirius Black, who first appeared in the film “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” is not the only role that has been criticised by Gary Oldman. According to the actor, it’s hard for him to stop looking for flaws in his roles, and if there comes a day when he is completely satisfied with everything, it will be “a very sad day.”
