It has become fashionable to perform plastic surgery on cats and dogs in China

Plastic surgeries for pets have gained popularity in China. This is reported by the South China Morning Post.

The trend for “Mickey Mouse ears” has become particularly fashionable. During this procedure, the shape of cats’ and dogs’ ears are changed, making them more round – in the same style as the hero of the famous Disney cartoon. Some clinics in Chongqing province even organise promotions, offering to pay for the procedure for several pets at once.

The cost of one operation is about 300 yuan (about four thousand rubles). The procedure consists of two parts. First, anaesthesia is administered and the surgeon removes part of the ear tissue, which takes about half an hour. During the second phase, the doctor shapes the ears so that they stick out rather than droop; this process lasts from 20 to 60 days and requires additional visits to the clinic.
